About Nina
Nina von Arx is an actor, costume designer and visual artist. She started her artistic career as a teenager in her hometown Hamburg, making her first appearances on stage and in television in different crime and children´s series as Nina Sonja Peterson.
Nina got her acting education first in Switzerland and then in New York with SUSAN BATSON from the ACTOR´S STUDIO and other acknowledged teachers like Jonathan Hart Makwaia/voice.
During her years in NYC, Nina had the opportunity to be a part of Robert de Niro’s debut as a director with “A Bronx Tale” and got acquainted with film practice in the USA. Soon after, Nina was cast for the part of the French maid Josette in “Bullets over Broadway” by Woody Allen. Relocated in Hamburg, Nina was discovered for the acclaimed German TV series “Girl Friends” directed a. o. by Christine Kabisch and Walter Weber. She was part of the main cast for seven years, working on numerous other TV productions alongside. In theatre Nina collaborated with the upcoming director Matthias von Hartz in “Autoreverse 1.0”/ “Delete 2.1” at Kampnagel in Hamburg and Wiener Festwochen.
Having moved to Berlin and later to Oslo with her three kids and her husband, she picked up her film career, now in short films in Norwegian language, playing main parts for example in “Short of Breath” by Aasne Vaa Greibrokk and Tetyana Kryvytska Stang Lund´s “Malika”
Parallel to her engagements as a performer, Nina established herself as a costume designer and worked on various theatre productions in Scandinavia with Runar Hodne, Philipp Zarilli and Hans Henriksen, amongst other in Trondheim, Oslo and Aalborg.
Further expanding her visual vocabulary, Nina emphasized what accompanied her all along her life and delved deeper into painting as she found her space to work and exhibit as a freelance artist in her atelier at “Dikemark Kulturarena”. Nina questions conventions in the fine arts and inquires methods and material, as she paints large formats that allow her to stretch her imagination.
Bringing those different art fields into a dialogue and an interplay, Nina always maintains a fresh and curious spirit towards any new project, to keep widening her artistic spectre.
Nina von Arx is based in Oslo and Berlin.
